Microchipping

Guarantee Your Pet Can Find Their Way Home with Microchipping

A lost pet can be a heartbreaking experience, and unfortunately, it’s one that many pet owners will face. According to the American Humane Association, 33 percent of pets will become lost in their lifetime, and only about 2 percent of lost cats and 17 percent of lost dogs find their way back to their owner.

Improve those odds and avoid this happening to your pet by:

  • Getting a visible identification, such as a collar and a tag with your phone number and address
  • Getting your pet microchipped through an easy and quick procedure at Complete Pet Care

These simple and quick steps can help guarantee that you and your pet don’t become separated. Pet identification tags with your up-to-date contact information are great, and a pet microchip offers an additional layer of protection. Microchipping accurately identifies your pet so if they run away and cannot find their way back home, they can be returned to you.

How Does the Pet Microchip Work?

The microchip is small — about the size of a large grain of rice — and works using passive radio frequency identification technology. Having a microchip inserted into your pet takes only a few seconds, and it remains for your pet’s entire life.

The chip can be scanned at any time (similarly to a bar code or identification card) through the pet’s skin. It is the safest and most effective way to identify your pet and ensure that their contact information is available even if their tag or collar has fallen off or has been removed.

Once the microchip has been inserted into your cat or dog, their identification and your contact information will be entered into a national database. This means if your pet gets loose, regardless of where you are, their mircochp can be read, giving you and your pet a higher chance of being reunited.

Your pet’s chip is unique and will only be linked to your contact information. Dog and cat microchipping technology helps reunite pets with their owners and ensure that pet owners don’t get a look-alike pet returned instead of their actual pet.

Have the Proper Raleigh Pet Identification and Get Reunited with Your Pet Sooner

Animal hospitals and shelters all over the country scan lost pets for a microchip every day. Yet, nearly 4 million pets are euthanized annually because their owners are not found in time. A microchip is the most reliable way to identify your lost pet because your pet will be scanned after they’re found and you will be contacted. If your pet does become lost, which is an all too common occurrence, you will have peace of mind knowing they have a microchip and can be identified.

Our Complete Pet Care team partners with pet owners to find ways to give pets and their loved ones as many years together as possible. Microchipping, in addition to regular physicals and other preventive measures, is one of those ways. It’s also one of the easiest ways for you to protect your pets and keep them safe and healthy.

We offer a quick procedure to insert a microchip into your pet at our convenient Raleigh and Wake Forest locations. Open six days a week, we make it easy for you to find a time to help ensure your pet’s safekeeping.
